A couple of steps that you could do to prepare your Windows PC prior to installing McAfee security software in it.

Step 1.

Make sure that your Windows OS is up-to-date and if not, update it. In order to update the Windows OS, open windows update by searching it in the start menu. Then follow the instructions that you see on screen to ensure that the OS is up to date with latest service pack and all important updates.

Step 2.

Uninstall any previous versions of McAfee or any other existing Security software. If you do have McAfee installed currently or in the past, you can run a tool known as McAfee consumer products removal tool which would completely remove the program and it traces. Step 3.

Clear the temporary internet files and Reset your browser if possible. You can find the temporary internet files by running the command ‘ temp ‘ or ‘ %temp% ’ in the run window.

Step 4.

Finally restart the computer and go ahead with the installation.
